Kenneth Okonkwo, a notable Nollywood actor turned politician, has strongly criticized the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu, for failing to fulfill the commitments he made prior to the elections.
Okonkwo, a prominent member of the Labour Party, shared a video in which Yakubu promised that there would be a large TV screen positioned behind him, displaying the election results on a state-by-state basis. This measure was intended to counteract the dissemination of fake election results by blogs.
Expressing his disappointment with the INEC chairman for not keeping his word, Okonkwo questioned the whereabouts of the promised big TV screen. He further alleged that Yakubu had harassed party agents who reminded him of his promises.
Taking to Twitter, Okonkwo wrote, “Prof Mahmood, please explain where the big TV screen was, as you had promised, showing the electronically transferred and transmitted presidential election results when you announced your questionable results? Your dishonesty will forever be a stain on your reputation.”
“Even when some party agents reminded you of this promise and the law, you harassed them, refused to act rightly, and instructed them to go to court. God governs the affairs of humanity, and He will judge you accordingly,” Okonkwo added.
