In a decisive victory, Senator Godswill Akpabio has been elected as the Senate President of the 10th assembly, surpassing his closest rival, Senator Yari from Zamfara state.
The former Governor of Akwa Ibom secured a total of 63 votes, solidifying his position as the President of the 10th Senate. Senator Abdul’aziz Yari, his nearest competitor, garnered 46 votes.
The voting process commenced at the Red Chamber in Abuja, Nigeria, promptly at 8:45 am on Tuesday. The voting proceeded in an orderly manner, with each state casting their votes alphabetically.
The voting phase concluded promptly at 9:15 am, marking the end of the electoral process. Senator Godswill Akpabio’s victory establishes his leadership as the Senate President for the 10th assembly.
