Abia State House of Assembly has passed a resolution urging the State and the Federal governments to approve the building of a military post in Ihechiowa, Arochukwu Local Government Area of the State.
The resolution followed a Matter of Urgent Public Importance brought before the House by the Majority Leader and member representing Arochukwu constituency, Hon Uchenna Okoro concerning the increasing rate of insecurity in that area of his constituency
Okoro cited the kidnapping, killing and burial of a retired military officer in a shallow grave along Uburu-Ihechiowa road.
The Abia Assembly also called on the various security agencies in the State to intensify efforts and engage on a more regular patrol of the area so as to protect lives and property of the people.
They called on the leadership of the 14 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Ohafia, to introduce a few checkpoints around Obinto, Uburu, Amuvi and Okobo axis of Arochukwu LGA.
The Matter of Urgent Public Importance was read out by the Speaker of the House, Hon Emmanuel Emeruwa.
