To minimize expenses, Mr. Alex Otti, the Governor-elect of Abia State, has taken it upon himself to finance the renovation of public facilities where his inauguration ceremonies are scheduled to occur on May 29.
Hon. Iheanacho Obioma, the Coordinator of the Inauguration Committee, revealed this information during a press briefing in Umuahia, where he discussed the preparations for the upcoming inauguration events.
Obioma stated, “Significant renovations have been undertaken at both the Umuahia Township Stadium and the International Conference Centre, which will serve as the venues for the inauguration ceremony and luncheon, respectively.”
He further commented, “The initiative taken by Otti, using his personal funds, is something the outgoing government should have done. There was a deliberate decision to exclude the government from the renovation process, as it could have led to inflated costs benefiting certain individuals.”
According to Obioma, the inauguration ceremony, themed “Alex Otti Inaugural… Help is Here,” will be a grand affair. It will include the official swearing-in of the Governor-elect and his deputy, followed by a luncheon.
“These two events will signify a new era in the way we conduct affairs as Abians, and as such, they have been meticulously planned to showcase excellence,” Obioma emphasized.
He also mentioned that renowned Nigerian musicians and comedians of global repute have been lined up to perform at the event, which is expected to attract a large audience from within and outside Abia State.
Among the notable musical artists, the internationally acclaimed singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, will be headlining, while the renowned Abia State-born stand-up comedian, Bright Okpocha, also known as Basketmouth, will lead the lineup of comedians.
“We want to provide the people of Abia with a platform to express their joy,” Obioma stated, emphasizing the overwhelming support and goodwill Alex Otti has received in his journey to become the Governor of the state.
