Abia State government has commenced palliative work on Umuahia-Ikot Ekpene federal road to provide relief for the commuters and reduce the rate of accident on the road.
Kanu stated this yesterday when he briefed newsmen on the outcome of this week’s executive council meeting chaired by governor Alex Otti, in Umuahia, the state capital.
Accompanied by three of his colleagues, he said the intervention “is aimed at providing succour for the commuters even though it is a federal government road”.
“In the same vein, the lit-up Abia project has covered 36 streets in Umuahia and extended to Aba- Owerri, Factory, MCC, Okigwe and Brass roads all in Aba,” he noted.
Similarly, his colleague of the ministry of works, Don Oti explained that the proposed 6-line Umuahia-Ossah road project would begin as soon as the procedure was completed.
“The procedure include payment of compensation to owners of structures that would be affected and commencement of their demolition,” he added.
